Yarncrafters are a lot like craftsmen in a lot of ways…
They have their “tools” (knitting needles, crochet hooks…) and their “building materials” (yarn) and when they start a project they seek to complete their work of art- WHEREVER THEY GO.
And craftsmen often need to use a few different tools to complete their projects…
And their tools are often heavy…
And they often need to travel to the places that they go to work.
So you would think that they would take just a few tools.
But…
Have you ever seen a craftsman show up to work with just a hammer and a screw driver? No way! he takes the toolbelt or toolbox to his fix-it-up jobs, because he doesn’t know just what he will need once he starts to work. Maybe he will need the fancy drill bits or the a different type of screwdriver. So a craftman takes a mini-workshop with him wherever he goes.
And that’s not all, craftsmen have really made an art out of storing their own tools. If you have ever had the pleasure to look in the tool boxes and tool storage areas of almost any craftsman they are really neat. Even the kind of guys that leave their socks lying around the house and their dirty towels in the bathtub usually keep their tools in order. Why is that?
Well think about it, the tools that he uses he needs to have handy and convenient. And when he needs to travel to another house to fix something he needs to carry as much as he can with him efficiently and without it weighing him down too much. Hence craftsman have developed smart ways of traveling with their tools.
You probably already see where I am going with this.
